MAC-UK Diaries: ‘Health Inequalities in Psychology’ conference.

This month two of our trainees from Royal Holloway, Belle and Leah, presented their learning from MAC-UK at their universities annual conference for trainee clinical psychologists. The theme of this conference was ‘Health Inequalities in Psychology’.

Having recently joined the team, Belle and Leah provided some reflections about how MAC-UK offer an alternative way of working with young people by prioritising co-production and valuing community knowledge.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the conference attendees were keen to learn more about how they can build community psychology principles into their personal and professional lives. The presentation sparked discussion and reflection about existing power structures in organisations, the difficulties in changing these structures, and ways forwards for addressing this.

We hope that these conversations continue and that the ideas discussed inspire people to continue learning about community psychology approaches, in the spirit of addressing health inequalities for marginalised communities.
