MAC-UK has entered an exciting new phase of widening our impact and entering new territories.  We would love to hear from you if you are interested in volunteering with us to support our mission.

Who can volunteer?

We value volunteers from a diverse range of professional backgrounds and lived experiences, and are able to provide volunteer experiences in a wide variety of roles within the organisation. We welcome volunteers who are available for one-off projects or ongoing roles and are very flexible about the amount of hours volunteers commit to.

What type of roles are available?

We offer a wide variety of volunteer roles and we tailor these roles to the skills, interests and goals of the individual volunteer. Previous volunteer roles have included: clinical administration, music activities, branding, marketing and communications work, change management consultation, workshop facilitation and many more. We would welcome your suggestion if you would like to do something totally different.

Generally, we work office hours, Monday - Friday, so most volunteering roles fall within these hours. The exception being work on special projects that can be done out of hours.

What’s it like volunteering at MAC-UK?

Teams at MAC-UK are friendly and encouraging, and staffed with people who are passionate about the work they do. We strive for excellence in everything we do, while ensuring we promote staff wellbeing and work-life balance. There is a culture of development in the organisation, so we hope that volunteering at MAC-UK will be valuable to the volunteer, as well as vital to our organisation. Roles are varied and interesting and the volunteers will be well supported by our teams.

We aim to ensure that volunteers find their experience valuable - we set goals for the experience at the outset, will provide necessary induction/training, provide a line manager for the duration of the placement, and ensure that volunteers feel well supported throughout their volunteer experience.

Volunteering with Young People

Please note that if you are specifically looking to work with young people as a volunteer, we ask for a minimum time commitment of 6 months. The reason for this is that young people, who co-produce our projects, have told us that they find it disruptive if people come and go from the team, and would prefer it if we didn’t offer short term placements. (Other volunteer roles don’t have any restrictions on the time commitment required)

How to volunteer with us

Please email [email protected] setting out how you’d like to get involved, when you’re available and some information about your previous experience.

With your help, we can continue our mission to transform services and for our impact to last well beyond our time.
