Having articulated the model, MAC-UK is now testing it in new settings, with new groups of excluded young people. A fourth pilot site based in Haringey is now being run in partnership with the NHS and local authority. Crucially, adoption of the approach by the mainstream is essential if MAC-UK is to meet the founding objective of having lasting impact on the way mental health services are delivered to young people who offend.
The Centre for Mental Health (CMH) is now independently evaluating the Integrate model in its pilot sites. Youth researchers are trained and employed to co-lead research with the CMH so that research is conducted with young people not on young people.
